Parasite Prevention and Control

Internal and external parasites are very irritating to the pet and their family and can potentially be dangerous. That's why we offer a variety of products for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and intestinal parasites.

Heartworms are internal parasites that affect dogs and cats. Since they are transmitted by mosquitoes, they are extremely common in Oklahoma and the surrounding states. Prevention is crucial because heartworm disease is very expensive to treat and can be fatal if left untreated. Fleas and ticks are external parasites that can be very bothersome to dogs and cats and can cause irritating skin issues. Ticks carry diseases such as Ehrlichia, Lyme disease, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and fleas are carriers of intestinal parasites called tapeworms. Other intestinal parasites include hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, coccidia, and giardia. Some of these parasites do not always show external symptoms, which is why yearly testing and prevention is important.

One of our staff members will be happy to help you decide which prevention best fits your pet's needs.
