Meet our September Pet of the Month!
Lexi Lee had a rough start early in life, living in Kansas and going by the name Texan. She was only able to walk on her back legs. Lexi Lee had broken both of her front legs and did not receive the vet care necessary at the time and her legs didn't heal correctly. Unable to use her front legs, she had to learn to walk on her back legs. She was rescued by an angel who contacted Safe Haven Animal Rescue in OKC at 9 months of age. Lexi was known to all as a Meer Kat until she underwent two surgeries to fix her tiny legs with plates and screws. Nothing slowed that little girl down! She also had to undergo a spay shortely thereafter, and she was immediately adopted into the home of the Adamson's. She adjusted well into her new life with new working front legs. She could finally run, jump, and play and had lots of fur brothers and sisters in her new home.
Four years later, she started having some issues with one of her legs. After getting x-rays at Osage Animal Hospital, it was determined that she was going to have surgery and was referred to Blue Pearl. Lexi underwent two more surgeries to remove the screws and plates from her leg because they were causing infection. Lexi made weekly visits to Osage Animal Hospital for bandage/cast changes and check-ups. Her leg healed up nicely! Lexi made a much needed trip to the groomers. They cleaned her up well and gave her a bath (she hates baths) and a new do. Lexi is back to being the ruler of the roost and living the life of a diva (the life she was born to live). Lexi Lee is a little ray of sunshine and credits the angel who rescued her, Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Lisa, Dr. Reynolds who performed the first two surgeries, Kathy, Tristan, and staff at Osage Animal Hospital, Blue Pearl for performing her latest surgery, and of course her parents for looking after her and giving her the life she so deserved from the beginning.
